Concrete cutting in Lake Charles LA - clean cuts after we check what's inside

Need room for a new drain line, or a sunken section of slab taken out? We cut it straight and leave the site clean.

How do you cut a clean opening in a concrete slab?

Concrete cutting in Lake Charles means sawing straight lines through a slab or wall, or drilling round holes, so you can run a new pipe or drain, open a trench or take out one section without breaking up the concrete around it.

Most calls start with something that has to get through the concrete, like a new drain line under a garage floor, a doorway, or a sunken piece of driveway you want gone. The price turns on the kind of cut, how thick the concrete is and how much steel is in it, whether it's a floor or a wall, and whether you want us to break up and haul the pieces or only make the cuts. The schedule mostly depends on checking the slab first and, if the cut leads into digging, giving the utility companies their notice. I come out, measure and write up what's included, so you have your own figure before you decide anything.

How we do concrete cutting around a lived-in house

I start by walking the cut lines with you and marking them, because a cut can't be taken back. Before any saw comes out, we find out what's inside the slab, since steel rebar that holds the slab together, or a pipe or conduit in the line, changes where and how we cut. For cuts inside the house or garage, we bring saws that don't fill the room with fumes. We also agree up front on who breaks up and hauls the cut pieces and how we clean up the wet gray slurry the blade leaves behind. Then we cut, clean up and leave your place the way we found it, apart from the new opening.

Cutting is often the first half of a bigger job. When a cracked or sunken stretch of driveway comes out, the cut gives a clean edge for the new pour, and we can handle that as part of concrete driveway building. If you're adding on to a patio or replacing a broken slab out back, the same cut sets up concrete patio construction.

Straight cuts in a floor or slab

This suits driveway sections, trench lines for new pipe and openings in a garage or shop floor. We saw along the marked line so the concrete beside it stays whole, and in tight spots we pick a saw that fits the space.

Round holes for pipes and drains

When you only need a pass-through for a drain, a pipe or conduit, a core drill makes a clean round hole instead of a long cut. It leaves much less to patch, which is why it's the usual pick for a single line through a slab or wall.

Why Lake Charles homeowners call B&C Lake Charles Concrete Company to cut concrete

I write the estimate and stay on site

I come out myself to look at the cut, measure it and write the estimate, so the person who priced your job is the one running it. Our own crew does the cutting, and I'm on site while the work is going on.

Five years working on lived-in homes

I started this business in 2021 to work on houses where people already live, with a fence, a flower bed and a family coming and going. Clear answers and a clean site matter to us as much as a straight cut does.

Licensed and fully insured

We're licensed and fully insured. That counts on cutting and removal work, because the state licensing board treats removal or demolition on an existing home as home improvement once the project reaches $7,500. When you're ready, call (337) 549-5674 or use the form below.

Permits for concrete cutting in Lake Charles and nearby cities

The local rules don't settle whether a concrete cut needs its own permit, so we check before we start. Inside the city, the Lake Charles Permit Center issues building permits, and Calcasieu Parish requires a permit before any construction or remodeling project, but its list names demolitions, not concrete cutting. We check with whichever office covers your address before work starts, and when a permit's needed, we handle the paperwork or walk you through it.

We're based in Lake Charles and work in the cities around it across Southwest Louisiana, including Sulphur and Moss Bluff, and over the line into Orange, TX. Plenty of houses around here sit on a slab, so a lot of our cutting calls are for a new drain or plumbing run under a garage or kitchen floor, or a sunken stretch of driveway that has to come out before it's replaced, along with a few small businesses that need a floor opened up. If your city isn't listed on the site, ask us.

Questions about concrete cutting in Lake Charles

How much does concrete cutting cost in Lake Charles?

Across the US, professional slab saw cutting usually runs about $4 to $15 per linear foot for the sawing itself, and that's the market's range, not our price. Thicker or reinforced slabs and wall cuts cost more per foot, round holes are priced separately from saw cuts, and on a small job a minimum or trip charge can set the price more than the per-foot rate does. I'll work out your own figure when I measure the job.

What is the best way to compare concrete cutting quotes?

Compare them on the same scope, sawing alone or sawing with removal, because breaking up, hauling and disposal are separate work and can cost more than the sawing. Some cutters saw the outline and leave the panels where they lie, so ask who breaks them up and hauls them. The sawing trade's own specification also says collecting and disposing of the slurry must be agreed with the owner before work begins, which is why we settle it with you first.

Why does a concrete slab need to be scanned before cutting?

A scan finds rebar, pipes, conduit and steel cables inside the concrete, and it may be needed before cutting a structural or post-tensioned slab. A post-tensioned slab has steel cables pulled tight inside it, and cutting one of them can shatter the concrete, hurt someone and weaken the slab. That's why we plan any scan ahead of the cut, not after.

Is it safe to cut concrete inside a garage or house?

It can be, as long as the saw doesn't run on gasoline, because a gas saw fills a closed room with carbon monoxide, and workers have died running one in a basement. Workplace safety guidance recommends hydraulic or pneumatic saws for enclosed spaces, so ask any crew which saw they plan to bring. Ours are the kind that don't fill the room with fumes.

How do I know if I need to call 811 before cutting concrete?

If the cut leads into digging or demolition, Louisiana law, with some exceptions, requires whoever does the digging or demolishing to notify the state's one-call center first. The notice has to go in at least 48 hours and no more than 120 hours before work starts, not counting weekends and holidays. Louisiana One Call is free and reaches the underground utility companies through one call to 8-1-1, and when the digging is ours, we put that notice in.
